Goodbye Pizzelle
Hello everyone, the Katie is here. It is with a heavy heart that I inform everyone that we had to give Pizzelle Jade back to the rescue lady that we got her from. There was a lot going on with her behind the scenes, which I will try to explain to you in this post.
It all started a week after we got her. We thought that Pizzelle wasn't pooping (to put things simply), but we finally noticed that she had been eating her own stools. Cue the next 6 months of us trying different methods to stop her poop-eating, including OTC medications, prescribed powders, Tabasco sauce on her poop (which somehow made her want to eat it more), pineapple, pumpkin with lemon juice, anise seeds, and many more. We even attempted to train Pizzelle to not eat poop. None of this worked. We then noticed that she was doing anything that she could to eat poop and was routinely pooping in her crate in the middle of the night to consume it as well as yanking stools from her sisters' rear ends as it was coming out. All of this, of course, was having a negative affect on all of the dogs. In fact, Claire Bear was trying to eat poop, which was when we realized that we had to give her back in order for her to receive the right kind and amount of attention for her stool-eating issues. We also have run into some financial problems (which will remain private) that would not be able to support the cost of the "new method against Zellie's poop problem every week" habit that had been established. We were all very sad to have to see Pizzelle leave us, but we know that it is for the better because we would rather see Pizzelle receive the correct kind of treatment for her problems than see her health suffer due to our lack of ability to take care of her needs. We just want everyone to know that we understand that you may think that it was wrong of us to just give a dog back because of how she acts, but we need you to just understand that this has been an ongoing problem that we just couldn't find the solution to. We would never, ever try to intentionally give a dog away because we don't want to at least try to work with her on her issues.
I am going to take a temporary hiatus from posting for a bit, so I can focus on how the others are handling Pizzelle's absence. There is already a scheduled video to go on the YouTube channel tomorrow, but other than that there will be no new posts for the next week or two. We will always love Pizzelle Jade, and she will always hold a special place in our hearts.
